Updates...

Dawson had his four month check-up yesterday. He got two shots, and he was NOT happy about that at all. He weighs 14 lbs! He is a pretty big boy.
I've run into two friends from high school this week. Well, one I've talked to on the phone (we're meeting tomorrow afternoon), and the other one I saw at the doctor's office. For anybody who knows people from my past, it was Julie Patterson and Tywanna Guidry. I was so excited. Then I started feeling old when I realized that I've now been out of high school for 17 years. Exactly HOW did that happen? I still feel like I'm 17 years old!
David has been really trying to get off of work early to come home and help me with the kiddos. Some days that plan works better than others.
I went to my very first Weight Watchers meeting. Since I'm officially going to start counting points and following it tomorrow (since you are supposed to track the foods you eat all day long), I stopped and had a Big Mac combo on the way home. I'm kind of embarrassed about that, honestly.
Kiki is doing great this week. She's going to job shadow with some EMT's/Paramedics tomorrow. She sounded really happy on the phone, and I'm so excited for her. I hope she has a great time.
Our church is starting a new Sunday School class for 8 weeks about Communication in Marriage that's being taught by a local Christian counselor who comes to our church. I'm anxiously awaiting this class. I can't wait to get some extra time alone (kind of) with my dear husband. Our lives are in such chaos right now that I think it will be GREAT for our relationship. We already have a really good marriage, but I welcome the opportunity to make it great.
Well, it's 9:30 pm, and Dawson seems to be actually asleep, so I'm off to get ready for tomorrow and go to bed. Hopefully I'll get some sleep.
Quick story: We sent Nadia to bed and told her to lay down and go to sleep. We could hear her talking to herself, so David called out, "Nadia, are you asleep?" Her reply? "Yes!"
Then he went in there to turn off the light and tuck her in. She was in bed "reading" a book when he walked in, so he told her it was bed time. She quickly shut her book and said aloud, "The End!" Our daughter is so precious!

December Updates...

Here are pics from December....
This is from the Favorite Faculty home game. Our basketball team members each chose their favorite teachers, and invited to attend the game wearing their jerseys. I had no intention of leaving work at CHS, driving all the way across town to pick up the kids, go home for about an hour, and then get back in the car to drive all the way back to CHS.

However, this wonderful senior named Jeremy walked up to me and said, "Mrs. Donham, you're my favorite teacher, and I'd be honored if you'd wear my jersey to the game." Of course, I called David and told him not to make any plans for the evening since we had a game to attend!

Can you believe the snow we got? I was so upset to discover that school was not canceled, and I could not go out and play with my kids in the snow. Baylor didn't have school, but I did, so it was off to school I went. I had no more than 6 kids in any of my classes...free day!I can't figure out how to rotate the pictures...just turn your head to the side while I try to figure it out.

I'll get some sleep tonight!

My mom has all three of my kids for the night! Yippee!!! Plus, Kiki brought my Christmas present over today, and it's some aroma therapy candles and bath salts. I'll get to take a hot bath and rejuvenate. I'll probably take another bath in the morning just because I can!
We've been getting so many adorable Christmas cards in the mail. I love seeing the pictures of everyone's children. Kiki and I were planning her card for next year with her two dogs on it.

Well, it's been awhile!

I've been back at work for three weeks, and I'm finally off again for two weeks. Dawson has three or four nights a week that he wakes up at 1 am, 3 am, and 5 am...on top of Nadia waking up once or twice. David does get up with Nadia, but her crying and moving around still wakes me up. Then I've been having to get up at 5:45 or 6 to get dressed for work. To say I'm exhausted is a great understatement. I felt like I was stuck in that movie "Groundhog Day." I've just been doing the same thing everyday, and then waking up the next morning to do it again.
I still have my moments of joy, though, like Friday afternoon when David picked the kids up from Kasie's so I could have a couple of hours to myself. I really do have a great husband!
Nadia's vocabulary is rather impressive, I think. She was in the tub with me yesterday and said, "Mom, can you move forward?" I had no idea she even knew that word.
She can also be very polite when she chooses. For example, she'll say, "May I please have some orange juice?" Too cute.
Last night she woke up twice. We're sleeping in Thibodaux to do Christmas this weekend, so I think that may have something to do with it. The first time I was up nursing Dawson, and I heard a THUMP followed by her screaming her head off. David took off running (from a dead sleep), and figured out she had fallen out of the bed. He rocked her and Mimi rocked her, and she went back to sleep. Fast forward to about an hour and a half later. I was feeding Dawson again, and I hear her screaming from the living room. She was screaming, "Mom, a spider bit me, Mom, a spider bit me!" Baylor came in and said, "Mom, Nadia is crying that a spider bit her." I put Dawson down, threw on some pants, and took off running. She had been sleeping in the recliner, but by the time I got there she was standing behind the recliner up against the wall. I picked her up, put her down on the floor, and took her pj's off so I could check. There was NOTHING there. By this time, David was in the living room, Mimi was in the living room, and Nadia was still screaming.
The best we can figure is that she had a nightmare about a spider. Poor thing. She was really afraid. I rocked her some more, and she feel asleep. At this point I just brought her into the bed with us because I was so tired.
Baylor is still loving his school with Mrs. Elaine, and seems to be doing pretty well. I'm noticing that his handwriting is better, and he's starting to voluntarily read things at home, like tv commercials and things in the mail.

I'm back at work.

It hasn't been too bad considering I prepared myself for the worst. I did have my last name written on the floor of my classroom with circle around it and a line through it. The balls in my computer mice were stolen, so they don't work anymore.
I have a thirty minute lunch everyday. In that 30 minutes, I have lunch duty for the first 15 minutes, and I have to pump during the second 15 minutes. So during my lunch break I can't use the restroom or eat lunch!
Dawson is behaving himself at Kasie's house, but not taking a bottle. He only drank 4 oz Monday and 3 oz today. I don't know if it's an eating strike, or if he just prefers Momma so much he'll go six hours without eating, but he's not eating. He has been nursing every 2 hours in the afternoons and evenings he's with me.
Nadia has been hysterical. For Thanksgiving, we were all at my Mom's house, and Nadia looked down at her plate full of ham, rice dressing, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, etc... She picked up her head and loudly said, "Hey! Did anybody bring some noon-als? Anybody have some noon-als?" It was so cute.
Baylor has been at Raymond's since Thanksgiving day, and he just came home today. He has a soccer game tomorrow and a tournament this weekend. After that, we're done until next fall!
